Update: Officer Involved Death in Two Rivers, Wis.
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating an officer involved death (OID) in the city of Two Rivers, Wis. that occurred on the night of Monday, November 4, 2019.
Two Rivers Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on Washington Street and during the stop an officer discharged his weapon, striking Nash W. Fiske, an occupant within the vehicle. Firearms were recovered at the scene. Authorities performed lifesaving measures and Fiske was transported to Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers where he died from his injuries.
No officers were injured during the incident. The involved officer, Police Officer Dakota Gamez, has been put on paid administrative duty. Officer Gamez has nearly 3 years of service with Two Rivers Police Department.
DCI is leading this investigation, and is assisted by Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin State Crime Lab, Manitowoc Sheriff’s Department, Manitowoc Police Department and Two Rivers Police Department. All involved law enforcement are fully cooperating with DCI during this investigation.
The investigation is continuing and DCI will turn over investigative reports to the Manitowoc County District Attorney when the investigation concludes.
