Consumer Protection

Attorney General Brad Schimel and the Wisconsin Department of Justice are committed to helping consumers who have been harmed by fraudulent or deceptive business practices and to ensuring a fair marketplace for honest, competitive enterprise. To help you with your complaint, fill out the form below to let DOJ know about a consumer protection problem you have. Or, use any of our available online resources to help you find the solutions and protections you need.

Wisconsin is unique in that consumer protection functions are championed by many different state agencies. DOJ’s Consumer Protection and Antitrust Unit enforces laws that protect consumers and businesses, including laws that prohibit deception, fraud, misrepresentation, or concealment of facts in the sale or advertisement of goods and services. DOJ also works closely with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions, and other agencies to investigate and prosecute violations of these laws.
