UPDATE: Officer Involved Death in Fox Crossing, Wis.

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating an officer involved death (OID) in the Village of Fox Crossing, Wis. that occurred the morning of Thursday, November 14, 2019.

 

Officers from Fox Crossing, Menasha, and Neenah Departments responded to a call for an armed subject on the 900 block of Clover Street, Fox Crossing, Wis. Law enforcement conducted verbal negotiations with the individual via phone until officers arrived on scene where negotiations continued.

 

During negotiations, Michael A. Jolly, age 35, emerged from the home with a firearm. Two officers discharged their weapons after Jolly disregarded verbal commands. Jolly was struck by law enforcement gunfire. A firearm was found on the scene. Authorities performed lifesaving measures and Jolly was transported to ThedaCare Neenah where he died from his injuries.

 

No officers were injured during the incident. Officers who fired their weapons and are on administrative leave are:

  • Fox Crossing Police Officer Corey J. Colburn, nine years of service, and
  • Neenah Police Officer Austin B. Riska, two years of service.

 

DCI is leading this investigation, and is assisted by Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin State Crime Lab, Menasha Police Department, Neenah Police Department and Fox Crossing Police Department. All involved law enforcement are fully cooperating with DCI during this investigation.

 

DCI is continuing the investigation of this incident and will turn over investigative reports to the Winnebago County District Attorney when the investigation concludes.
