Officer Involved Death in Manitowoc County

Two Rivers, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating an officer involved death (OID) in Two Rivers, Wis. that occurred on the morning of Sunday, December 22, 2019.

 

Law enforcement with the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office were attempting to stop a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle left the roadway and was involved in a single vehicle crash. Law enforcement immediately provided medical aid to the subject, but the subject died of injuries at the scene.

 

No law enforcement personnel were injured during the incident.

 

One Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Deputy has been placed on administrative leave, per department policy.

 

DCI is leading this investigation and is assisted by Wisconsin State Patrol and DOJ Office of Crime Victim Services. All involved law enforcement are fully cooperating with DCI during this investigation.

 

DCI is continuing to collect evidence and determine the facts of this incident and will turn over investigative reports to the Manitowoc County District Attorney when the investigation concludes.
