Ashland Man Charged with the Crime of Theft by Trustee or Bailee

MADISON — Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced today that Zygmund J. Jablonski, Jr., 53, of Ashland, has been charged with one count of Theft by Trustee or Bailee, a Class G Felony.  Jablonski’s initial appearance has been scheduled for Thursday, November 13, 2014.

According to the criminal complaint, Jablonski was the personal representative for the estate of James J. Sanders.  Jablonski, as personal representative, had control over the assets of the estate.  Between February 2008 and August 2012, Jablonski converted $131,450 of estate assets to his own use by writing checks to himself and to his business, A to Z Plumbing.

While the defendant has been charged in a criminal complaint, he is presumed innocent and the state will need to prove him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.  A copy of the complaint is available here.

The charges are a result of an investigation by the Ashland Police Department and the Wisconsin Department of Justice -- Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).  Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey M. Gabrysiak represents the state as a Special Prosecutor for Ashland County.
