AG Schimel Announces New Criminal Litigation Unit Director Randall Schneider
MADISON, Wis. – This week Assistant Attorney General Randall Schneider began his new role as the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Criminal Litigation Unit Director. Schneider replaces Roy Korte, who retired on June 23, 2017 after more than three decades of service to the State of Wisconsin.
“The Department of Justice benefited from many years of Roy Korte’s leadership and I am confident that under Randy Schneider’s leadership, the Criminal Litigation Unit will continue to provide the best legal representation for the State of Wisconsin and crime victims, as well as top-tier assistance to district attorneys’ offices across our state,” said Attorney General Schimel.
Schneider joined the Wisconsin Department of Justice in 2015 as an assistant attorney general in charge of gun prosecutions in Milwaukee County. Prior to that, he served for 22 years as a prosecutor in the Racine County District Attorney’s Office. In that role Schneider prosecuted homicide, sexual assault, child abuse, drug, felony battery, and firearms related crimes.
“I worked with Randy for over 20 years and he is by far, one of the most outstanding prosecutors I have ever worked with,” said Racine County District Attorney Patricia Hanson. “He is a very talented litigator and has always been a mentor to young lawyers. I am happy to know that prosecutors across the State of Wisconsin will now benefit from his talents and not just the people of Racine County.”
