Investigative Genetic Genealogy

Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) is a technique that combines genetic testing with traditional genealogical research to generate investigative leads in unsolved violent crimes. Given our expertise in forensic genetics, the Division of Forensic Sciences (DFS) Wisconsin Investigative Genetic Genealogy team (WIGG) is in a position to offer guidance and act as liaisons to agencies seeking these services.  Unfortunately, while WIGG is continuing to expand to meet the capacity of this new technology, at this time the service is not available at the crime laboratory nor is there financial assistance from DFS.  Please review the below guidance documents for more information on evaluating a case for IGG and how WIGG is able to assist your agency.
