The Top Cop's Top Cops: Spotlight on Milwaukee PD

Today, I'm proud to recognize two 'Top Cops' from the Milwaukee Police Department for doing the kind of police work that doesn't always make the news.

Milwaukee Police Officers Ronald Campos and Matthew Nogalski proved yesterday that street robbers don't stand a chance against these two Top Cops.

MPD District 2 Officers Campos and Nogalski arrested a teenage suspect wanted for an armed robbery on Milwaukee's south side, and police are searching for his accomplice. The officers responded to the 1500 block of S. 6th Street around 11:00 a.m. on October 11 for a report of an armed robbery. The victim, a 26-year-old Milwaukee man, told officers he was walking on the sidewalk when two suspects approached him, one of them armed with a gun. The suspects demanded his belongings and ran away with the victim’s two cell phones and cash.

Just before noon - not even an hour later - .Campos and Nogalski saw two males that matched the description of the suspects in the 1900 block of S. 10th Street. The suspects ran away and the officers were able to take one of them into custody. That suspect is a 15-year-old Milwaukee male. Milwaukee Police are currently searching for the second known suspect. The suspect that was arrested admitted his involvement in the armed robbery and investigators believe the two may be responsible for several other similar armed robberies on Milwaukee's south side over the past few days.

The Milwaukee Police Department will present the case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.

Good police work means keeping a keen eye out for trouble, and the fact that barely an hour passed before Officers Campos and Nogalski spotted the suspects shows how officers are out there using their training and experience to keep the community safe every day.
