MADISON — On Thursday, January 16, 2014, a criminal complaint was filed against Hermilo Burgos Gomez, of Edgerton, charging him with five Counts of Possession of Child Pornography, a felony.  A bond hearing in this matter is scheduled for today at 3:00 pm in Rock County Circuit Court.

According to the Criminal Complaint, on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, special agents with the Department of Justice – Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), with assistance from officers with the Edgerton Police Department, executed a search warrant at the home where Gomez resides in Edgerton.  An on-scene forensic preview by a DCI analyst of a laptop computer located in a lower level bedroom of the residence uncovered numerous video files consistent with child pornography, according to the complaint.  In an interview with agents, Gomez stated there were approximately ten videos of child pornography on the laptop, and that he has been intentionally downloading child pornography for about three years.  He further stated, according to the complaint, that he was surprised law enforcement found out he downloaded child pornography, and he knew that having it is illegal.
