MADISON — Former Lake Geneva Utility Commission employee Robert Leber appeared today before Judge Phillip A. Koss in Walworth County Circuit Court, where Leber entered a plea of guilty to Misdemeanor Theft. Judge Koss followed the parties’ joint recommendation and imposed a $250 fine plus court costs.
At today’s hearing, Leber agreed that the facts in the criminal complaint formed a factual basis for his plea. According to the criminal complaint, Robert Leber took a trailer from the enclosed lot at the Lake Geneva Street Department and retained possession of it without permission. The trailer belonged to a private citizen, who was allowed to store his trailer at the Street Department in 2012. Leber kept the trailer at his house until February 2014 when it was located and returned to its actual owner.
This case was investigated by the Lake Geneva Police Department. Victim services were provided by the Office of Crime Victim Services. Assistant Attorney General Annie Jay represented the state in these matters.
The criminal complaint is available here.
