News Conference Scheduled for Tomorrow at 10 am in Marinette
PESHTIGO — On Sunday, April 28, 2013, shortly after 7:15 pm, officers with the City of Peshtigo Police Department responded to a home located at 526 Thompson Street where a female was discovered deceased. As city officers secured the scene, the Department of Justice (DOJ) – Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) was called to assist with the death investigation.
The victim has been identified as Patricia Waschbisch, 45, of Peshtigo. Investigators consider the death of Ms. Waschbisch to be homicide. An autopsy is expected today to determine an official cause of death.
As previously indicated, a person of interest -- 48-year-old Brent Kaempf -- was identified and taken into custody for questioning last night. Based upon evidence collected at this point, investigators believe there is no public safety threat. Mr. Kaempf and Ms. Waschbisch were in a relationship at the time of her death.
No other information about the investigation is available at this time. A news conference is scheduled for 10 am tomorrow at the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department, located at 2161 University Drive in Marinette.
The Wisconsin State Crime Lab, the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department and Wauwatosa Police Department also are assisting with this investigation. Anyone with information should call the City of Peshtigo Police Department at (715) 582-4511.
In the event, someone is charged with a crime in connection with this incident, a defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence. The prosecution must prove its allegations at trial beyond a reasonable doubt.
