James L. Haensgen Arrested
LONE ROCK - On April 14, 2009 at 6:38 p.m. special Agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation along with the Richland County Sheriff's Department and ICE arrested James L. Haensgen on 20 counts of Possession of Child Pornography. The arrest was the result of an on-going investigation by the departments involved.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) initiated an investigation involving individuals that were using computers to purchase access to websites containing child pornography. One individual who was traced to this activity was identified as residing within the State of Wisconsin. ICE requested the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation to follow-up with this investigation.
An investigation revealed that the computer at James L. Haensgen's residence was being used to facilitate the possession and distribution of known child pornography. DCI Agents obtained a search warrant for Haensgen's residence. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Richland County Sheriff's Department assisted DCI agents with the execution of the search warrant at 425 U.S. Hwy. 14, Lot #2 in Lone Rock, WI.
Several computer hard drives and computer related media were discovered at the residence.
An on-scene preview of Haensgen's computer hard drives and peripheral computer media revealed thousands of images and videos of child pornography. Haensgen was arrested at the scene and transported to the Richland County Jail pending formal charging by the Richland County District Attorney's Office. Haensgen was arrested for 20 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.
