AAMVA Standardized Driver Record

Since early 2002, AAMVA has been working with justice agencies to reconcile XML tags for driver and vehicle information into the XML Justice Dictionary.  The dictionary is sponsored by the US Dept of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance.

I would recommend Rich Carter as an AAMVA contact for this effort, RCarter@aamva.org.  Most of the technical work on the schema was done by Mark Pritchard, MPritchard@aamva.org, and Mark contributed extensively to the example.  Otherwise the example is a manufactured Wisconsin driver record.  I accept all responsibility for the limitations of the stylesheet.

Here are some materials of interest:

bulletThe complete specification (../les/XML/driver/Full Spec 9102002.doc).
bulletThe driver record schema (../les/XML/driver/driver-1.02.xsd).

09/05/02 note:  the "1.02" version above has just replaced "1.01".  There are a few changes that have not yet been incorporated into the example and stylsheet below...

bulletAn XML driver example (../les/XML/driver/driver-example.xml).
bulletA stylesheet that translates the example to an HTML presentation format
   (../les/XML/driver/driver.xsl)
bulletAnd a couple of graphics that make the package work:  photo, seal.

Note, if you simply click on the "example" link above, your browser will use the stylesheet to turn the XML document into an HTML display.  You can use your browser's View|Source function if you want to see the actual XML example.  You can right-click on the above links and choose "save target as" if you want to download the actual files.

Comments, questions are welcome.  See 'home' link above for more information about what's happening in Wisconsin.
