Crime Lab Internships

There are a limited number of internships each year, offered when a specific project has been identified that furthers the mission of the laboratories. Internships are usually offered to college students in their Junior or Senior year in a science degree program. It is also a requirement of the Crime Laboratory Bureau that the intern be receiving college credit for the internship. Prospective interns must be able to pass an extensive background check and must sign a confidentiality agreement. Internships at the laboratory are not paid positions.

For more information and/or to apply for an internship, please send your completed application, resume/CV, and a letter of interest to Katie Kohl at (608) 266-2031 or kohlca@doj.state.wi.us.

(Note: due to the nature of the work and the process required to bring someone into the lab, short-term job shadowing is not available for high school students. College students enrolled in a degree program that is focused toward a career in forensics are occasionally accepted on a case-by-case basis and based on lab resources.)
