Entries to the file are based on the following vehicle categories:
1. Stolen Vehicle – A stolen vehicle may be entered if a theft report has been made. A loaned, rented, or leased vehicle that has not been returned may not be entered in the file unless an official police theft report is made or a filed complaint results in the issuance of a warrant charging embezzlement, theft, etc. Users can also indicate in this type of message that this vehicle is to be held for latent prints, occupants are known to be armed, or both.
2. Felony Vehicle –Vehicles wanted in connection with a felony. Users can also indicate in this type of message that this vehicle is to be held for latent prints, occupants are known to be armed, or both. If a vehicle is stolen and used in the commission of a felony, enter the vehicle as stolen and in the Remarks Field indicate it was used in the commission of a felony and describe the felony.
3. Stolen/Missing License Plate(s) - This file will contain records of reported stolen or missing license plate(s). A single stolen license plate may only be entered into the file if the remaining plate is destroyed or not used. If the complainant desires to retain the existing license plate number, such as personalized plates, it would not qualify for entry into the data files.
