Use of FBI Number

When possible a valid FBI number should be included in a warrant/wanted entry. If the entry or modification includes the FBI Number, the FBI’s Identification Division will flag the person’s identification file and will notify the arresting agency and wanting agency via NLETS message of subsequent fingerprints that are positively identified with that of the wanted person.

After hit confirmation has satisfied the warrant, the cancellation of the entry will automatically notify the identification file canceling the flag.
