System Discipline

Accuracy is essential, as is promptness in entering, modifying or canceling records in the CIB or NCIC Files. Each record in the file is identified with the agency originating that record, and that agency alone is responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and correct status of that record at all times.

Entries made from a particular terminal in the state can only be canceled or modified by that terminal. You should retain a copy of terminal transactions affecting a record entered by your agency or confirmed with another agency.

The Crime Information Bureau TIME System Control Center will monitor system discipline as it pertains to the use of the data files and authorized law enforcement messages. Any and all uses made of the TIME System must relate to and involve only “official business”. Personal use of the system is strictly prohibited.
