The Sex Offender Registration File provides information about persons convicted of sex crimes. In 1997, the State of Wisconsin enacted the Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Law. This law was created to monitor and track people convicted of or adjudicated for sex crimes and to provide access to this information for law enforcement, victims and the general public. Registration, while on supervision and following expiration from sentence, serves as a means for monitoring and tracking the whereabouts of sex offenders in the community.
