Query Vehicles

A vehicle inquiry may be made by license plate number, type and year of expiration, vehicle identification number, or owner applied number. A query by license plate number, type and year of expiration or by vehicle identification number will result in a search of the CIB & NCIC vehicle files and DOT vehicle registration files. Whenever the plate state, year of expiration or type is excluded the computer automatically assumes the plate is a Wisconsin automobile plate of the current year. A query on an out-of-state license plate will cause the same files to be searched, with the search of the DOT vehicle registration files being replaced with a search of the DOT files in the state specified in the query. A query by owner applied number will result in a search of the CIB & NCIC vehicle files.
