Out of State Query

It is possible to get the driving status on an individual from another state. The out-of-state query will also generate a query of the Wisconsin Driver’s File. Most states have automated driver’s files. For complete listing of states having automated driver’s files see the appropriate Help File.

 If it is not known in which state the individual is licensed, a query by NLETS Region can be made by using the two character regional code. See Code Manual for specific codes and the states included in the regions.

Only one region can be used in a query. Each state has their own unique format in the name field to query the Driver’s File. A check of the NLETS State Driver’s HELP File can be of great assistance in receiving the proper driver’s status.
