This is a required field. Boats manufactured in the United States (except military vessels) have a three-character Coast Guard manufacturer’s assigned identification code as the first three characters of the manufacturer’s assigned boat hull number. Some large manufacturers who have several boat building plants have been assigned multiple codes by the Coast Guard. When entering a boat by such a manufacturer, the Boat Make Code should agree with the first three characters of the Boat Hull Number. If the manufacturer of the boat is unknown, manufacturer name is not found in the code table or it is homemade, the code MISC is used. When the code MISC is used, a description of the boat or manufacturer’s name must be entered in the Miscellaneous Field.
