Juvenile Restricted Instruction Permit/License

Issued to person 14 but less than 18 years old. Expires at age 18 or upon issuance of a probationary license. Approved only when necessary to alleviate an extreme hardship. Must obtain a Statement of Necessity or approval at a DMV Service Center.

Juvenile Restricted License holders from ages 15 ½ to 18 may enroll in Driver Education or obtain a Probationary License at age 16. (Class D Instruction Permit required for Driver Education enrollment).
