Hit Confirmation Requirements

Agencies that utilize the TIME System must take immediate action when requested to confirm the status of a file entry. Documentation for entry must be readily available to all operators to provide for this capability. When a confirmation request is received, the receiving agency has either ten minutes or one hour to acknowledge receipt of that request (established as national policy). All agencies are required to take the appropriate action on their record. Records must be canceled immediately after the hit confirmation steps are completed. If an agency refuses to take appropriate action after a positive hit is received, the agency that received the hit must place a locate on the record.

When an agency enters a local ordinance or state law-civil process violation warrant they can geographically restrict the entry indicating the area(s) to which they will travel to retrieve the wanted person. Agencies receiving positive responses that are outside the boundaries as indicated by the entry should not detain the subject on the basis of that response. (For allowable geographic restrictions see the Wanted Person Section.)

The entering agency should NEVER:

1.  Refuse to cancel until the subject is in their custody.

2.  Refuse to cancel until the bond is received by their agency if the person has been released from custody.

IF THE RECORD IS CORRECTLY ENTERED, THE ORI MUST PICK THE SUBJECT UP IF BOND IS NOT POSTED.
