Hit Confirmation

NCIC/CIB policy requires that upon receipt of Hit Confirmation Request, the originating agency of that record must within the required time period (ten minutes/one hour) furnish a substantive response of either positive or negative confirmation as to whether the record is active or not.  If additional time is required to confirm the status of the record, the originating agency must specify how much additional time will be required. This policy deals strictly with the confirming of the hit, not the issue that extradition proceedings will be commenced.

If the confirmation is not received within the required time period, a second request should be made. If there is still no confirmation from the originating agency, the following procedure should be accomplished:
