The Crime Information Bureau’s Warrant/Wanted File of the TIME System will permit geographically restricted warrant entries, for local ordinance and civil process non-criminal state-law violations, entered at the discretion of the local agency. The restriction alternatives are:
• Within the entering agency’s county,
• The entering agency’s county and adjacent counties,
• East of Highway 51
• West of Highway 51
• North of Highway 10
• South of Highway 10
• East of Highway 51 and north of Highway 10
• East of Highway 51 and south of Highway 10
• West of Highway 51 and north of Highway 10
• West of Highway 51 and south of Highway 10
• Court ordered restrictions. Any court-ordered restrictions must appear on the face of the warrant.
An entry for a non-felony state law violation may only be restricted by a court order. The Wisconsin TIME System provides geographic restriction as a service to local law enforcement for ordinance and non-criminal offenses if the agency will not travel to receive the subject of the warrant when he/she is apprehended by another jurisdiction. Agencies should not detain/apprehend persons if located outside the restriction area designated in the wanted record.
Total responsibility for geographically restricted warrants is that of the “ORI,” originating agency.
