Enter Boat

The following fields are mandatory to cause acceptance of a stolen boat entry into NCIC storage: Message Key, Boat Hull Serial Number, Owner Applied Number, or Registration Number, State, and Year; Boat Year, Boat Make, Date of Theft, Originating Agency Case Number. The entry will be rejected if one of the mandatory fields is left unfilled.

Missing data obtained at a later time should be promptly added through the use of a “modify” message. Coast Guard Number, Home Port, Hull Shape, Model Name, and Boat Name can only be added to the stolen boat record by modifying the record.

If a boat trailer is stolen in conjunction with a stolen boat or by itself, the trailer is to be entered into the Stolen Vehicle File.
