Cause and Manner of Death

The manner of death should be indicated by a one-character code. The code is followed by a space and then the cause of death, e.g., N CARDIAC ARREST, is identified.   Total field length cannot exceed 30 characters.  Allowed codes are:

•      A   Accidental

•      H   Homicide

•      N   Natural causes

•      S   Suicide

•      U   Unknown
