Canceling Some Articles in a Group Article Record

Group record containing articles to be cancelled must be identified by the NCIC number and the serial numbers of the items being cancelled in that order. Lowest and highest serial numbers of the consecutively numbered items being cancelled must be used. Where there are any breaks in the consecutive order of the serial numbers, separate cancel messages must be sent. Cancellation date (which must be current date) must follow the two record identifiers.

Do not use the NCIC number and the originating agency’s case number to identify the record as this will result in cancellation of the entire group record.
