An assembled vehicle is one which is homemade or rebuilt using components from different vehicles or is made from kits provided by a manufacturer for specialty cars and replicas. There are four ways to enter these vehicles, depending on how the vehicle was assembled:
1. Vehicle is homemade and does not have a manufacturer –assigned VIN. Make code must be “ASVE.” Model is either “AV” – assembled vehicle or “REP” – replica. If the vehicle is a replica, it should be indicated in the remarks what year and make of vehicle the assembled vehicle is a replica of.
2. Vehicle is assembled using a manufacturer’s kit, manufacturer’s name is not displayed on the assembled vehicle. Make code must be “ASVE.” Model is either “AV” – assembled vehicle or “REP” – replica. If the vehicle is a replica, it should be indicated in the remarks what year and make of vehicle the assembled vehicle is a replica of.
3. When a manufacturer-assigned VIN is present but no longer conforms to the rebuilt vehicle, the vehicle should be entered under its major make code. Vehicle model is “AV”-assembled vehicle
4. A rebuilt vehicle bearing its original VIN plate should be entered using the appropriate make and model codes.
REMARKS are required to explain manufacturer and other descriptors. The year in Year/Model/Style is the year assembled. The style in Year/Model/Style must be a valid style code found in the style section to which the vehicle represents. (If you have assembled a truck, look to the Truck Style Section, etc.)
