Additional Guidelines for Entering Group Articles

There are four rules pertaining to group entries.  These are:

1.  The items must be the same.

2.  The items' serial numbers must be sequenced.

3.  The items' serial numbers must have the same number of digits.  Leading zeros are permitted.

4.  There can be no more than 100 items in a group.

The only difference between a consecutively serialized group entry and a single entry is in the use of the message key, and the insertion of the consecutive serial numbers in the Serial Number Field. The NCIC Computer will accept two serial numbers containing an equal number of characters not exceeding 20 characters in each number.
