There are four characters that identify each TIME terminal that sends/received administrative messages, and these four characters are known as a terminal mnemonic. For example, a terminal located in the Dane County Sheriff’s Office has a terminal mnemonic of DASO. Terminal mnemonics are used in conjunction with administrative messages. Not every terminal is assigned a mnemonic, only those sending and receiving administrative messages via the TIME System.
Mnemonics have also been assigned to identify specific areas of the state and particular routes of travel within the state. This allows an agency to send an administrative message to multiple terminals within that are or along that route of travel without having to type the same message repeatedly or determine what departments are located in a particular area.
All valid terminal mnemonics are listed in this manual.
