Fingerprint Card

Use of Fingerprint Card

The Crime Information Bureau utilizes one fingerprint card for the entire identification process. This card serves as the source document for submission of inked fingerprint impressions and descriptive data to the CIB for persons arrested or taken into custody, applicants, unknown deceased or other identification requests.  As the primary form in the Identification system, all other transactions branch out from the fingerprint card.  It is from the fingerprint card that criminal records are created, and updated with Final Disposition Reports.

Note:  All information on the fingerprint card should be typed or legibly hand written.

CIB converts all arrest fingerprint cards not submitted electronically to electronic format.  This allows a single fingerprint card to be processed by CIB and then submitted electronically to the FBI.  Any agency still submitting paper arrest cards need only submit a single, legible fingerprint card.
