Technical Returns

Inked and/or scanned fingerprint impressions may be technically unacceptable for search and retention in the state's AFIS.

Individual finger blocks which have been circled on the fingerprint card(s) correspond to the checked reasons on the Fingerprint Card Return Form DJ-LE-251, because of one or more of the various reasons that are discussed in the following.

Ink was unevenly distributed

Fingers not fully rolled

Too much ink

Insufficient ink

Some impressions smudged, ridge characteristics not distinct

Hands have been reversed

One or more fingers printed twice

Plain impression inadequate, complete roll necessary

Missing or partially missing impressions, complete roll necessary

One or more plain impressions omitted

Fingerprints not in sequence in spaces indicated

Fingerprints on CIB & FBI cards do not match

No record by name, fingerprints unacceptable for search and retention
