Other Disposition Reporting > Juvenile Adjudication

Prohibited Firearms Possession

When a juvenile is adjudicated delinquent of an offense that would be a felony is committed by an adult, such adjudication prohibits the person from possession of a firearm.  Section 938.396(8) of the Wisconsin Statutes requires the court report such adjudication to the Department of Justice.  This information may be used by the Department only in determining whether or not a subject may legally possess a firearm.  This adjudication should be reported using form DJ-LE-FH9, available from the Crime Information Bureau.

If the court later determines the person adjudicated is not likely to act in a manner dangerous to public safety and wishes to remove the adjudication from the file, that restoration of rights may also be reported to the Department of Justice using the same form.
