A law enforcement agency may desire to check an individual's identity or past criminal record for an investigation being conducted before an actual arrest has been made. The Crime Information Bureau will process these fingerprint cards and return the completed card to the contributing agency with either "NO PREVIOUS RECORD" or "IDENTIFICATION TRANSCRIPT ATTACHED" stamped in the charge block of the fingerprint card.
The law enforcement agency submitting a fingerprint card for this purpose must indicate in the "final disposition block" the reason the card is being submitted as "criminal investigation." This will ensure proper processing of the fingerprint card.
