Fingerprint cards submitted to CIB that involve domestic abuse need to have that information included with the primary statute. Arrests involving incidents of domestic violence are disqualifying offenses for purposes of firearms transfers. Individuals committing a domestic abuse should be arrested for the specific offense that they violated, i.e., battery, 940.19 (1), and the literal should include the fact that domestic abuse was involved.
Literal wording that indicates domestic abuse should be included with the offense literal. The following abbreviations can be used to indicate domestic abuse:
|
DV |
Domestic Violence |
|
DAC |
Domestic Abuse Contact |
|
DA |
Domestic Abuse |
|
DAI |
Domestic Abuse Injunction |
|
DVIP |
Domestic Violence in Progress |
