Internship Opportunities
The Wisconsin Department of Justice's
Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) provides investigative
services to local law enforcement agencies. DCI Special Agents are
assigned to work in one of the following offices: Madison,
Milwaukee, Appleton, Eau Claire, Wausau, or Superior. DCI special agents
investigate crimes that are of statewide nature, importance or
influence, and fall within one of the following program areas:
The Office of the State Fire Marshal investigates fires of
suspected incendiary nature, explosions of suspected criminal
origins, and arson involving the loss of life.
Field Operations is responsible for complex
field investigations involving controlled substance violations.
Financial Crimes Unit conducts criminal
investigations relating to identity theft, antitrust violations and
other economic crime.
Public Integrity investigates
alleged violations of state statutes when committed by public
employees or other government entities.
Special Assignments assists local agencies in
investigating suspicious deaths, missing persons, organized crime, prostitution-related offenses and crimes against
children.
The Gaming Bureau investigates allegations of
gaming-related crime and assists local law enforcement in enforcing
the state's gambling laws.
Investigative Services provides
specialized support services within DCI and to law
enforcement agencies statewide.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force
Unit (ICAC) investigates the use of the
internet as a tool to sexually exploit children.
Interns with the Division of Criminal
Investigation assist the special agents in case-related duties.
These duties include interviews, execution of search warrants,
surveillance and intelligence gathering. Interns also conduct
independent telephone interviews of citizens and make referrals
regarding the citizen complaint. The intern documents case
activities using the standard Department of Justice reporting
system. The intern also assists in preparing prosecutorial
information for district attorneys and assistant attorneys general.

Minimum Qualifications
1.
Completed two years of higher education (i.e., at least 60 academic
credits)
2.
Eligible for Wisconsin driver's license
3. Pass
a comprehensive background investigation
