ATTORNEY GENERAL VAN HOLLEN MEETS WITH OZAUKEE COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT AT LAW ENFORCEMENT ROUNDTABLE HOSTED BY SENATOR ALBERTA DARLING

MEQUON - Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen and State Senator Alberta Darling met today in Mequon, Wisconsin with law enforcement officials and other community leaders and officials from Ozaukee County and the surrounding area. Also in attendance were State Representatives Dan LeMahieu and Jim Ott. The topics of discussion at the law enforcement roundtable included the desirability of making driver's license photographs electronically available to law enforcement making traffic stops; drunk driving; concealed carry for retired law enforcement personnel; medical privacy and custodial issues relating to Wisconsin's mental health act (chapter 51); illegal immigration; and public records law. The officials also discussed cooperation among law enforcement agencies to achieve their common public safety mission.
"Meetings like this put together law enforcement and lawmakers, enabling us to have face-to-face, frank discussions about public safety matters of local and statewide concern," Van Hollen said. "At the Department of Justice, we exist to assist local law enforcement. By listening to the concerns of Ozaukee area public safety leaders, I can better assess how the Department of Justice might further assist local law enforcement."
