Paul R. Doucet of Sparta Arrested
SPARTA Special Agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justices Division of Criminal Investigation along with the Monroe County Sheriffs Department and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Paul R. Doucet on December 10, 2008 for possessing thousands of video and still photographic images which are consistent with child pornography.
On Wednesday, December 10 an Internet Crimes Against Children search warrant was served at the residence of Paul R. Doucet at 3999 Backtrail Road, in Sparta, WI. A search was conducted and charges have been forwarded to the Monroe County District Attorneys Office.
Seized as a result of the search warrant were 23 computer/hard drives and 1 external hard drive. A forensic preview revealed thousands of images of child pornography contained on Doucets computers. Doucet admitted that he had been involved in trading, distributing and possessing child pornography for approximately the past 10 years. Doucet had been using unsecured wireless internet access from random locations throughout the Monroe, Jackson and La Crosse County area.
This investigation was initiated by the US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and was forwarded to the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation for investigation.
Monroe County District Attorney Dan Cary will be charging Doucet today with 40 felony counts related to the possession and distribution of child pornography. Questions concerning this case should be directed towards the Monroe County District Attorneys office.
A defendant enjoys the presumption of innocence. The prosecution must prove its allegations at trial beyond a reasonable doubt.
