ATTORNEY GENERAL VAN HOLLEN MEETS WITH SAUK COUNTY LEADERS AT LAW ENFORCEMENT ROUNDTABLE

Wednesday, December 17, 2008

BARABOO - Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen met today with law enforcement leaders, elected officials, community leaders, judges, and public safety officials from throughout Sauk County at a law enforcement roundtable.  Senator Luther Olsen, Senator Dale Schultz, Representative Sheryl Albers, Representative Steve Hilgenberg, Representative-elect Ed Brooks and Representative-elect Fred Clark participated in today's roundtable discussion.

Topics discussed at the roundtable included Internet Crimes Against Children, open meetings/public records, funding for additional prosecutors, Byrne Grant funding and drunk driving.

"I would like to extend a thank you to Senators Olsen and Schultz, Representatives Albers and Hilgenberg and Representatives-elect Brooks and Clark for being part of  this successful roundtable. Each county has public safety issues that specifically affect them. While many of these issues affect the entire state, it is important for me to understand how the Department of Justice can assist Sauk County," Van Hollen said. "Sharing information between the Department of Justice, the State Legislature, and local agencies helps law enforcement at every level."

"I am grateful to all of the local officials who participated," said Van Hollen. "Opening the lines of communication on these issues furthers the discussion about how government can improve its law enforcement and judicial responsibilities."

"I thank Senators Olsen and Schultz, Representatives Albers and Hilgenberg and Representatives-elect Brooks and Clark for attending today's roundtable discussion," said Van Hollen. "These discussions help us in state government do a better job."
