WAUPACA - Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced today that a former firefighter has been charged with Arson of a building in connection with a fire at his Waupaca County home in 2005.

Van Hollen said that Christopher Doering, 34, 510 South Division Street, Waupaca, Wisconsin, has been charged with one felony count of arson.

According to the criminal complaint, the clothing worn by Doering on the evening of September 1, 2005, was collected by law enforcement.  According to the complaint, a Wisconsin State Crime lab analysis of Doerings shoes and blue jeans revealed the presence of a volatile mixture consistent with gasoline.

The criminal complaint was filed in Waupaca County on September 30, 2009. A copy of the criminal complaint can be found here.

Assistant Attorneys General Erik Peterson and Dennis Krueger will serve as special prosecutors for Waupaca County

Doering enjoys a presumption of innocence.  The state must prove its allegations at trial.
